This course is aimed at all staff involved in the sales process within estate agency and provides an overview of the legislation that impacts on the estate agent.
The day will cover the following topics:
● Action that may be taken against an estate agent by the Trading Standards Office, The Office of Fair Trading, the Property Ombudsman and the public in general
● Obligations of the estate agent under the Estate Agents Act 1974, and the 1991 Regulation and Orders
● Requirements under the Property Misdescription Act 1991
● The Property Ombudsman Code of Conduct
● Home Information Packs – Housing Act 2004
● Money Laundering Regulations 2007
● Cancellation of Contracts Made in the Consumers Home or Place of Work etc Act 2008
● Consumers, Estate Agents and the Redress Act 2007
● The provisions for offering a property for sale via formal and informal tender
● Tort including occupier liability and vicarious liability
